I've purchased Classical Etudes Volumes 1 and 2, hands down the best and most enjoyable learning that I have found. I have tried literally dozens of Neo-Classical books. Classical Etudes is put together brilliantly, from the initial scale studies and examples, to the supreme choices of musical pieces. Thanks Jeff Bernal for your great work!!! I've been looking for a product like this for several years now.... Jackpot!!!

I've tried so many Neo-Classical instructional books over the last 5 years. None compare to Classical Etudes Volumes 1 and 2. Its perfect for those interested Classical/Metal. I was beginning to think that what I was looking for was not out there and then I found these two.... Perfect. Thank you Jeff Bernal for a brilliantly assembled collection of music for aspiring Neo-classical guitarists.

I've been looking for this kind of martial to learn for quite a while. The books provide excellent exercises that combine everything that’s great about metal and classical pieces. Usually with these kinds of books, you will find the martial rather boring and repetitive. In Classical Etudes Volumes 1 and 2 however all the pieces are beautifully arranged that even practicing on a slow temp still sound great. I recommend the books even if you’re a beginner, just download transcriber or any other audio software to slow down the tracks on the audio CD to learn the more complex parts. Using the book helped me improve my technique, since it forces you learn how to play cleanly and neatly, and how to hold on to the notes so that you get that nice classical sounding rhythm. What I also liked is that all the tabs can be played with a pick; you don’t have to be able to do some crazy tapping or hybrid picking to be able to play them. I highly recommend the books to anyone interested in neo-classical guitar no matter what level they are as long as they’re able to read tab or learn by ear as well as those looking to improve their technique by playing something nice rather than repetitive exercise. I never write reviews for anything but I was so happy to find something like this that's well put together and fun to play that I just had to : P

The book was in good condition and organized. I am also a classical guitarist but this book allowed me to be exposed to the music in a different way. I've yet to dig in deep but I already appreciate the scalar review and the little "riffs" or "excerpts" provided. After I get through the entire book, I'm certain that I will refer to it frequently and, hopefully, commit some of those pieces to memory - just like I do on the classical guitar. I've been searching for such a book for quite sometime and I highly recommend it to guitar players interested in neoclassical metal or simply some exposure to classical music in general. The author obviously knew what he was doing and it would be nice to get further material like this. The only thing that takes my attention away are my classical studies on the classical guitar (Segovia).
